I’ve tried for years to really form a good daily practice with tarot journaling and nothing ever seems to stick. Whether it’s participating in tarot challenges or doing a daily 2-3 card spreads, it goes in one ear and out the next. I’ve also tried using a “nesting doll” method where you do a week ahead reading and dive into each card through the week. However, something is finally starting to stick and I’ve only been using this method for a short while now!
Recently, I came cross the “MindMosaic” journaling method taught by Trina O’Gorman and I decided to try out this method with my daily tarot journaling and I’m loving it! Before you dive into my post, be sure to read Trina’s post here on this method because I will not be explaining it since it’s not my method to teach. I’ll just be sharing how I’m personally apply this method to my daily tarot draws.
First, I pull my card for the day
After I’ve made my morning coffee (always iced) and finished with the household shuffle of letting the hens out and feeding the dogs, I pull a card for the day. I have a little “ritual” of how I usually pull my daily cards to help eliminate me second-guessing my pull… some of you may know this feeling!
My morning ritual looks like this: I state the day of the week, the exact date and planetary rulership of that day first, and then ask for my card that day.
Example: “Today is Tuesday, October 11th 2022 and ruled by Mars. What is my card for today?”
Let it sink in
I first think about the imagery and what card it is for a moment, noting down anything that comes to mind. Then, I dive into the Book of Thoth or Mirror of the Soul (it’s amazing!!) and read about the card since I’m working with these books alongside the Thoth tarot at the present moment. While reading, I pay attention to any keywords, topics or phrases that jump out to me and I note down 4 of those in my journal to use as headers or prompts (this will makes sense if you read Trina’s MindMosaic post first).
Using these headers or prompts
When I’m ready to journal, I start with the first prompt and let it trigger my thoughts. I use each prompt as a way to dive fully into the card and explore, see what comes up for me or what memories might rise to the surface.
The other day I pulled the Prince of Swords and my chosen 4 prompts were Creative Thinking, Cutting Away, Clear Perceptions and No Limits. Under each prompt I let the words flow! This method has helped me dig deeper into the meaning of the cards, as well as create a more personal association and relationship to them, and has helped me carry the message all day rather than forgetting it by the time I make breakfast. It’s really fun to see what comes up and what is triggered by the prompts I pick. This morning, the Moon card made me think of The NeverEnding Story and Indiana Jones based on the prompt “gateway” that I wrote down.
That’s it! I can’t recommend this MindMosaic method enough and want to thank Trina O’Gorman for sharing it!

All tips are much appreciated (and enjoyed), thank you!
This is such a good way to connect with a card. Thanks for sharing
Tried this technique this morning and loved it. Resonated with the idea of a tarot pull that you forget before the end of breakfast! Thank you for sharing. I plan to continue with this!
