While I didn’t plant to share another “book stack”, these two titles jumped right to the top of my current reading pile once they arrived last week. If you’re a big book nerd, like myself, I have more titles coming that I’ll share when they arrive… You’ve been warned!
FYI: I’m still reading Marco Visconti’s new book (but waiting for my hardback to arrive, love Kindle but I need a physical book for this one) and Dion Fortune’s The Mystical Qabalah… This title is being read in bite size portions since I’m doing a lot of note taking as I read, it’s excellent so far and I highly recommend!
The first book I already started devouring is Secrets of the Thoth Tarot (Vol. 1) by Marcus Katz, and I can’t put it down. It is a very good read and I already have Vol 2 in my cart to order next Friday. This book focuses on the Thoth majors, but the first 1/3 of the book dives into a lot the historical aspects that was used in creating the Crowley-Harris Thoth Tarot. As a fellow history nerd, I found this fascinating and it gave me a lot more rabbit holes to search down. I’m almost to the section where the majors start and I have my notebook and pen ready, I have a feeling it’s going to be good. The second volume of this trilogy is on the minor arcana and the 3rd and final book is on the courts; both also contain historical content as well.
The second book that is taunting me to be read next is M. Kyndyll Lackey’s Beyond As Above, So Below: Understanding Hermetic Tarot Through the Music of Maynard James Keenan. Being a massive Tool and Maynard fan, this was right up my alley and just flipping through the pages I can tell it’s going to be am excellent read! The forward was written by M.M. Meleen and the book contains imagery from the beloved Tabula Mundi. I’ve done several light studies with the Tabula Mundi alongside with the Crowley-Harris Thoth, but plan to deep dive more into the TM deck once I start this book. I’ve been dedicated to working with just the Crowley-Harris Deck, it’s a love affair that runs deep for me and the cards open up more and more each time they show up for me.
