Prompt: secret rendezvous
Card: Card 57 from The Golden Moth Oracle
The north rim of the forest was bare except for a large compost pile. It was a sad sight, but the soil was not alone. Before the other insects stirred and headed to visit this decaying heap for their morning fill, the earthworms would get some one-on-one time with this rich, damp mountain.
It was a secret gathering and the compost loved the special attention it received. Usually it was the wildflowers that got all the love, but not from the worms. The worms wanted soil, not petals.
The compost and earthworms had a beautiful affair... until fungi showed up.
A Six Word Story inspired by the prompt and card:
“They rejoiced in decay and rot.”
