Today’s card is the Fool from the Asherah Tarot, one of my favorite cards in the Major Arcana. The Fool in Thoth is associated with the Air element and on Path 11 of the Tree of Life joining Kether (Crown) to Chokmah (Wisdom).
One of my favorite pieces of imagery on this card is the crocodile that the Fool is dancing on. The creature symbolizes both a fearless nature and tapping into our natural instincts. I really love colors and figure in this card, they’re playful and give off a bit of recklessness which allows for some risk taking. We’ll never know what else is out there if we don’t at least try.
“A fearful or cynical state of mind impedes the unconditional giving and risk taking that is necessary to achieve great things or even to enjoy life…. The fool ignores all of the expectations and conventions of society and embraces freedom, liberation and individuality… If we love our own fate, and to accept that it is all exactly as it is meant to be, we can live fully in the moment and enjoy good humored serenity.”

As a card of the day: The Fool reminds us to live in the moment and leave our expectations at the door. We’re invited to see what happens when we let go of our control to make things always so perfect. Grab the tip of the thread and throw the spool into the wind, follow the string to see where it leads you and be open to taking some adventurous risks. You know yourself better than you think!
