A little late start to my day despite being up since 5am! It’s been one of those mornings where I just didn’t have the energy to do much so I embraced it fully and spent it with my feet up watching some camera reviews… all the while thinking about my card drawn when I woke up.
Today’s draw from the Asherah Tarot was the Prince of Cups and I almost wanted to shelve tarot for the day rather than dive into this card. I’m not a fan of the Cups court (and entire Cups suit in general)… there’s probably some heavy shadow work in there to do, I’m sure. So rather than ignore my card today I decided to dive in and pick it apart a bit.
The Prince of Cups is Air of Fire. They’re good at communicating their emotions and how they feel about things, but their ego can lead them to being too detached from reality. Lon Milo DuQuette said it best in his book Understanding Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot “…a fierce nature with a calm exterior”.
Where the Prince of Wands can be a bit hot headed, I feel like the Prince of Cups can be a bit moody or sensitive.
“It’s important to make active efforts to stimulate the flow of emotional energy by cultivating sympathy, abandoning pride and allowing ourselves to be submerged in the sea of collective emotion in order to maintain the flow of creative inspiration and energy.”
- Sarah Wheatley Asherah Tarot Guidebook
When thinking about this card for my day, I can easily step into the shoes of the Prince of Cups by making sure that my heart and my head don’t influence each other in ways that leaves me blind or a bit insensitive. I should stay open and receptive, but most of all don’t allow my emotions to get the best of me. A bad mood can often feed ill thoughts, so keeping in check is key today.
I mean... HUGE scorpion on this card?! How could you not like it? 🤩🤣
