This morning I pulled the 2 of Cups from the Asherah Tarot (a deck I’m currently deep diving alongside my rekindled Thoth studies) and forgot how much I love astrology in tarot. The only time I actually use it is when I work with the Thoth system though, it just clicks for me and makes some intimidating cards much easier to grasp. Before I even looked at what the deck creator wrote in the guidebook or took a peek at what Crowley’s perspective was, I got a full sense of this card just by knowing it’s astrological correspondence of Venus in Cancer.
“The weeds behind the fish are shaped like two champagne glasses and the whole watery background is a mass of fizzy bubbles, suggesting the great joy love brings to life, as well as its deceptively intoxicating nature.”
- Sarah Wheatley Asherah Tarot Guidebook
This card made me think of not just being receptive of others but to be receptive of myself. Venus in Cancer reminds me of having a devotion to my feelings and what makes me feel in flow with harmony rather than going against the stream.
When I dropped my daughter off at school this morning she stepped in a big puddle of mud as she got out of our Rav4. She was wearing flip flops due to a bad toe injury that happened on Friday at school… so needless to say, it was a mess. I was not only tired but I was growing in frustration, however I quickly thought back to my card this morning. The words “Be receptive of others moods” popped into my head and I knew she was most definitely having a harder morning than I was. I quickly snapped out of my own mood and it pushed me to take a deep breathe so that I could handle the situation with a more tender approach.
I’m currently doing some housework on this Substack! I am slowly adding new sub-sections at the top of this blog/newsletter for ease of organization and categorizing. The plan is to use this platform for both personal card musings and shared tarot content, enjoy!
